Political science 3n06 2015 lecture 9b field research continued. Researchers view the world through their own culture, their own gender, their own ethnicity, etc. How much of what we see and record is a reflection of our prior assumptions and beliefs. The subjective position of the researcher can impact what she sees and consequently (both conscious and subconscious)? what we, her audience see. And then i will tell it back to you in a new way. Tell it back to you in such a way that it has become mine, my own. I am still the colonizer, the speaking subject, and you are now at the center of my talk . In light of the potential for researcher bias, some authors recommend making our own biases (class position, gender, etc. ) explicit in our write-up. You can"t view the entire population of interest (in most cases)
