Stimuli were presented to newborns an hour after birth and were moved left to right. Scorers watched the videotape of the infant, and reported that infants looked at the moving face more than other stimuli. Newborns tested within an hour after birth: stimuli were moved left- right, eye movements were videotaped, the eyes showed preferential movement towards face-like stimuli than to scrambled face-like stimuli recognizing their mother"s face: Preferential looking showed that two-day-old infants will look at their mother"s face 63% of the time.
