Conscious learning by sitting a class room or reading a textbook are important but it only describes one type of learning. Unconscious re ective learning is essential to the survival of a species. Nicole suffers from chronic headaches that are particularly bad during periods of low atmospheric pressure. The pain from her headaches usually coincides with the rst few drops of rain falling and hitting the ground. Recently, nicole has noticed that her head begins to throb at the mere sight of a cloudy sky. To alleviate the pain her doctor has prescribed her medication which comes in the form of a red pill that nicole takes daily with her lunch. The side effects of ingesting the red pill are sweaty palms and nausea. Nicole would rather deal with these symptoms than deal with the pain associated with the headaches.
