PSYCH 2AA3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 18: Blue-Collar Worker, Lead Paint, Standard Deviation
Document Summary
If the stereotype that says you suck you preform worse, the stereotype that says you are great makes you do better: like asians when ask gender versus race. It is impossible to toss out the environments a factor: data like this shows you that there are really no real differences. Implications: this racial difference may be much more about nurture not nature, the environment is what is causing these differences, the differences seem to go away as soon as the stereotype threat is removed. Summary: we see a lot of evidence, we have data telling us that genes and environment are reacting in very important ways, data on group differences suggests that environmental factors can alter expression of genotype. If you ask them how are you different, they can do it but it is based on physical and material things. I am different because i have brown hair, i have a bike i am shorter.
