PSYCH 2AA3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Zygote, Kk Mzt Skopje, Extraversion And Introversion
Document Summary
Behavioural genetics branch of genetics that deals with inheritance of behavioural and psychological traits. Genes and environment work together and effect one another. Epigenetics environmental experiences can alter expression of our genes and we can pass this on to our offspring. Genotype is what our genes are coding for; a person"s particular set of genes inherited from parents. Phenotype represents observable and measurable expression of genotype; you don"t express all your genes. We think phenotype is affected by environment. I. e. height genes said that you should be 6 feet tall, but due to lack of food, you"re shorter. If life events do happen a lot to both groups, the people with the serotonin problem are more likely to become depressed rather than the other group. I. e. intelligence highly inheritable, but environment makes a huge difference. Took mice and interbred the fastest maze runners together and the slowest together.
