Inborn predisposition to behave a certain way. Stranger wariness: infants become wary in the presence of an unfamiliar adult. Effortful control - extent to which a child is not distracted and can focus attention. (marshmallow task) Primary caregiver is adaptive trait - social referencing. Theoretical approaches to attachment: psychoanalytical perspective learning theory: attachment occurs through the satisfaction of hunger. Agued that children dont need nurture but rather independent and autonomous. Babies who had access to kangaroo care were much healthier, stronger, less criers, experienced less pain responses. Instinctual singling by baby elicits parental care. Affectional bonds: relation in which you crave/ want to seek out one another. One individual and another, not interchangeable - speci cally with one person. Emotionally signi cant - love must be present. Proximity = when not with them, you fell stressed/displeased. The number 1 person you seek when afraid.
