Phenomenal field: each individual lives in a slightly different world we select and we interpret it subjectively. Anything that is currently in an individuals consciousness/can be brought in easily (ex. information differently, feeling of clothes) Only those that are in the phenomenal field can contribute to personal growth and most internal and external events do not get into the phenomenal field. Unlike jung and maslow who talked about multiple motivations, rogers is more. Freudian there is only one motive and the second instinct was added later. Actualizing tendency: tendency to fully realize one"s potential: everyone is actualizing and is the only motive for living. Organismic valuing process: inner compass sense of what is right for us and leads us to move towards situations that will enhance us and back off from situations that will not be self developing. If we follow this, things go well: the self develops.
