Examples include facial expression, body language, tone of voice, emphasis of voice etc. People receiving a text message are like likely to perceive the context accurately in comparison to people who are receiving a call, or directly socializing with an individual. There are some universal face expressions which you would be able to understand the emotion of the individual by just looking at them, no matter where you are in this world. These include: disgust, joy, surprise, sadness, anger, fear and lastly contempt. Contempt is thought to be more controversial because is more social in nature aka very specific to a human being. Athletes who are blind or sighted, when they make a mistake = both express the same facial expression = universal expression. Also looking at babies, they express the same emotions the same way that adults do without having to experience what universal perceptions are.
