Tradiion is what a religious group believes to be true. A scholar claimed that the buddha lived 480 - 400. We know nothing for sure about the buddha"s life, all the facts we do know are tradiional. There is contrast, to this lack of historical fact, a well described tradiional biography of the buddha. This is his second to last life. Through his own efort he atains knowledge that helps him to escape samshara. A statue depicts the buddha residing in a place not on earth where he is deciding how he wants to be born on earth. He knows that this is his last life. This will be his great goal of escaping the cycle. The mother"s pregnancy is accompanied by special signs. Suddhodana is the buddha"s father and maya is the buddha"s mother. The father is a king and belongs to the warrior class. Ater his mother becomes pregnant and is travelling back to her home town.
