There are few protestant colonies interacting in trade with the mediterranean. To go to war against another faith is defensive. To not go to war against the new faith, is to risk contamination of your own. By eradicating the other faith, you are purifying your society. Ensured your salvation and showed your worthiness to god to destroy another faith. You are spreading your faith into an area that has previously believed in errors: religious division in hre. Warfare is on and off, christians vs. protestants. A political treaty which establishes a new relationship between religion and ruler.
