Word in jap for god is kami, kami aren"t a single monotheistic god. They can be people, animals, things, events, etc: clans fighting each in 2,3,4,5 century. Around 5th century, yamato clan becomes the leading clan. Has the most power: not sure where yamato clan was initially based. We have some evidence that its near nada but not 100% sure: clans in japan are called uji. And each clan would have its" clan deity which they would worship which is called ujigami. The dominant clan must bring in the myths for the smaller clans. these clans formed at farming time. Hence, clan leaders would often perform rituals for good harvest. Izanagi is guy, nami is girl: they give birth to bunch of kids. One of their kids is amaterasu is sun god. He is kami for yamato family and emporer of tokyo: amaterasu"s (girl) shit disturbing brother is susa no o. and uzume is possible the first shaman of japan.
