Examines functions of educational institutions (i. e. selection, socialization) Contest: most students go to high school, don(cid:495)t have to take a test to determine where you have to go. European where there was a test moving away from it. Greater awareness that we need young people to have uni education to improve the economy of our counties. Sponsor mobility: a lot of counties have this, some europeans are going away from this. Students before high school (grade 7,8) ae given a test to determine which high school they are going to. Everyone should be treated equally, there are rights. Teach meritocracy, merit = success is based on your own merit: taught less overtly, hidden curriculum. Learning those values b/c marks: schools teach other values like civil liberty.
