Feminist theory inequality caused by male political, legal and economic advantage macro level: gender disparity in earnings, horizontal and vertical stratification, barriers for women in political workforce. Micro: gender differences in communication, patterns where inequality is retained, re- inforcement in intimate or one on one relationship b/w men and women. Ch. 11 siq duffy and mandell: the feminization of poverty- women are more likely to be poorer than men true for all age groups critics: focused on gender, not inclusive of other inequalities, race, age, sexual orien- tation etc. Max weber: class (economic power, owning property) status (prestige, occupational prestige), might not have economic power party (political power or influence) many politicians come from privilege and influence, intergenerational family has pow- er and political influence. Frank parkin (neo-weberian) influenced by weber, social groups maximize their own interests by restricting access to resources and opportunities.
