Forces affecting the development of of sociological theory cont. It was a potential solution to the rise of capitalism and colonialism. Marx was in favour for socialism, and wanted the proletariat masses to revolt and overthrow the bourgeois. Durkheim and weber like marx saw the cons of capitalism, but on the other hand did not accept socialism as the solution to capitalism. Challenged the patriarchal societies (i. e male dominated) In the 19th century, early feminist sociologist created feminist critiques, they had an impact on sociological theory. Late 20th century was when the work of these early female sociologist was seen as an important aspect of sociological theory. Growth of urbanization was tied to the industrial revolution. During the 19th/early 20th century many people left rural areas to live in urban areas in order to work in factories, since factory work was located in urban areas.
