University education capitalist economy by his uncle: largely due to a push from his father weber ended up going to law school in 1882, university of heidelberg in germany. Spent his first year partying & fencing: ended up transferring to the university of berlin - a lot close to home. Graduated & starting worker as a junior barrister. Started a phd in law & received it in 1889: had to chose between being a lawyer or an academic.
