Bill says that having aids has allowed for him to feel free and blessed. The meaning is attributed to the object through interaction and interpretative process. You categorize certain stimuli to decide what to focus on and what can fall into the background. Without this categorization it would be dif cult to attribute meaning and we would feel overwhelmed: we can also seek out certain stimuli and meanings such as choosing to touch an animal or attend a concert. For example, walking through musc, bath and body works, sporting events, Concerts or times square: we can have positive associations with certain objects. For example, the smell of bread baking can remind someone of their home or their family: a smell or stimuli that was once considered good can be become bad.
