You categorize certain stimuli to decide what to focus on and what can fall into the background. Without this categorization it would be dif cult to attribute meaning and we would feel overwhelmed: we can also seek out certain stimuli and meanings such as choosing to touch an animal or attend a concert. For example, walking through musc, bath and body works, sporting events, Concerts or times square: we can have positive associations with certain objects.
