Building the barriers: adolescent girls delimit their future. Wheel of power: since males are self-confident, do not suffer from a fear of success, do not suffer from learned helplessness. Girls are taught to be helpless in their tender years while boys are not taught this. Boys are given the advantage to assert themselves to be at the cutting edge, to have the power, control etc. Girls are centered around boys who like power and authority. They enjoy being part of a powerful family and through their boy friends they gain this power. They do not seek power for themselves through that group but instead they accept the attitudes and beliefs of that group and they are hand- maidens and live vicariously through the male. Where the girls are at the center and males are the stokes.
