Structure of how things are done; not stories. Two main quesions that are behind this lecture. Our external, pracical lives, are ied to systems. Our view of freedom means choosing from a small range of possible opions. We oten feel this as an anxious pressure. Fluctuates depending on the needs of society and the whims of men. Natural caregivers when it suits social needs. On one hand there has been the oppression of women by men. Looking back we may like to think that all women felt put upon by the social understanding of their role. Economies depend on the work of women. This is especially the case with unpaid work. Taking care of the home and family for free has allowed men to create the economic system. This aspect of the history of economics and work has largely been ignored. The american civil war has been called a batle about slavery between the northern and southern.
