In-class coding lab thursday - we will be working in groups of two! Part 1: the importance of searching and linear searches. Much of what we do on a computer involves looking for information that we know is stored. I have a great picture of a dog on my phone. I know i saved that file, but now it"s not there. The problem of finding our digital stuff is not new, but as the amount being stored grows, it becomes even more of a challenge. Local (disk, flash memory) storage technologies have come a long way in a short itme. A factor that continues to decline is. Data storage is migrating rapidly to cloud servers, i. e. - dropbox. Now, with local storage capacities of mutiple terabytes, and with inexpensive cloud storage, it is less likely for a user to run out of storage space.
