Types of technology used to produce culture in both historical and contemporary contexts could be understood as amazing and liberating ways to express aesthetics, politics, ideas, philosophies, and are used in a multi-various means to really enrich our culture(s). In the contemporary context it"s hard to understand the concept of culture without thinking about how technologies work to preserve and promote them. Many technologies we use are produced for capital gain, or are made for research reasons having nothing to do with the way the technology is later used. I. e. the gutenberg press was originally made for the printing of bibles. Looking at cinema as a means by which to understand the relationship between technology, capital, and entertainment in a contemporary context. The first moving images were produced to document the movement of humans and animals in order to understand scientific principles.
