If we are not ruled by force in a liberal democracy, how is it that we all agree to those rules. That process of making us all consent to being ruled. Gramsci further argued that lots of consent is manufactured in the realm of culture, social culture realm. Example: prohibition, and said that prohibition started as a middle class, dominant class, reform idea to get all. Those ideas were to get peoples personal behaviours, drinking habits, more in line with the dictates of liberal capitalist.
