Lays out the broad strokes of contact and the narratives from each side (europeans and aboriginals) Also lays out two overarching theories for how contact impacted the aboriginals short term and long term. Romantic interpretation: how human nature is and how it changes, general view that cultures are unique. Fundamental differences between cultures: the romantic gets less and less significant as time goes on, realize that the europeans are not that different and are in some cases inferior.
