The canadian lesbian and gay archives in toronto (founded in 1973), an example of community-based archives, started by the gay & lesbian community (not by the government or state) It began to give the history of sexuality a greater public profile. (cid:1005)(cid:1013)(cid:1013)(cid:1004)(cid:859)s (cid:894)ge(cid:374)e(cid:396)alizatio(cid:374)(cid:895): the u(cid:374)i(cid:448)e(cid:396)sit(cid:455) fi(cid:374)all(cid:455) de(cid:272)ided to i(cid:374)(cid:272)lude se(cid:454)ualit(cid:455) i(cid:374) its institutions. Now: sexuality is firmly entrenched in academia: sexology: krafft-ebing, ellis, freud the 19th century. Study of sexuality really starts here in the 19th century, is crucial. Doctors were the first to study sexuality, particularly one branch of doctors: sexologists. Early works in sexology were aimed at physicians, judges, lawyers, other doctors etc.
