Health 101 Week 1 Lecture 1 • prof’s office hour:  o 3­4 on Monday ­ or email to set up appointment • Marking structure  o Weekly content mini­quizzes on Moodle, starting week 3: 5% o Biweekly writing mini­quizzes on Moodle: 5% o Final exam (to be scheduled by Exams Office): 40% o Assignments based on the novel, Indian Horse o Assignment #1: 15% o Assignment #2: 25% o Letter to the Government of Canada on a topic of your choice: 10%  • Key dates  o 7 October: assignment #1 due in class o • 21­31 October: marked assignment #1 will be returned in tutorial #4 o • 18 November: letter to the Government of Canada due in class o • Week of 25 November: assignment #2 due. Hand in to your TA at your  tutorial time and place (no tutorials that week). • Fall exam period  o December 4­19  • Exam accommodations  o Human rights (at least 1 week notice):  disabilities (register with Disability Services)  faith observance • HLTH 101 final marks & feedback from previous years: o things many students like:  “real world” topics; format mix/variety; the prof; tutorials o things many students don’t like:  classroom noise; readings • SKHS Culture of Learning o challenging, stimulating, motivating and respectful o facilitates student learning o skills: independent learning, critical thinking and
