Trial courts: hear trials/witnesses, review evidence (sometimes a jury) makes finding of facts (what it believes happened, who it finds credible) its version becomes the facts and then decides not always the truth Appeal courts: if the losing party is not content they can choose to appeal their case court hears the appeal, normally review questions of law only (no witnesses or jury) Losing party has to argue that there was an issue in the trial court error in law.
