The bacteria that are consistently associated with an animal/host. We are 10 parts bacteria, one part human. The normal flora of humans is exceedingly complex bacterial species. Bacterial make-up depends upon many factors: environment, genetics, diet, nutritional status, age, sex, etc. Adult human is covered with approximately 2 square meters of skin and supports approximately 1012 bacteria. If you had to count all the cells in/on your body, the majority would be microbes. Most of the genetic information we carry is not human, its microbial. Microbes: the main form of life on earth. Archeae and bacteria and eventually eukarya (plants and animals) huge freakish bodies rich in substances for bacteria to exploit . Homo sapiens-v. self important, but when to his/her surprise, a virus wipes us out most of life on earth takes no notice at all. Maybe microbes are at the to of the tree. What organisms live in different arts of the body.
