Psychology is the scieniic study of mental processes, cause of behaviors in human and animal and the applicaion of the knowledge to predict through paterns and to solve psychological problems. Raionalism: pursuit of truth through reason and logic. Inluence from western philosophy, originated from ancient greek (socrates, plato, etc) Early psychologists used solely logical reasoning to explain human acions: empiricism. Empiricism: the world funcions in an observable manner that can be quaniied and be explained through the principle of parsimony. Parsimony: occam"s razor, principle staing eniies should not be muliplied needlessly, simplest is the soluion. Determinism: all events are governed by lawful, cause and efect relaionship. Raises the quesion if human have freewill if we are controlled by the law of nature. Behavior is determined by both external and internal factor. Structuralism: breaking down of complex phenomena into its elemental components then assuming understanding of each individual part equals to the understanding of whole.
