Culture: many di erent ways to think about culture one distinction that social psychologists have studied extensively is independent vs interdependent cultures independent cultures value individuality, autonomy, and self-reliance interdependent cultures value tting in, cooperation, social harmony. Sometimes referred as western vs. eastern: too broad. Culture and cognition: proverbs from each culture can illustrate what is valued.
