The fixation of belief - peirce, 1877 article. Ideology is what you stay with if you ignore your doubts about something. Tenacity - not popular, based on your personal beliefs. Authority - influential figure in your life. Fashion - based on what"s convenient, helping climb social ladder, fun. Open minded as opposed to having a fixed belief. Almost impossible to doubt the vast majority of our beliefs. Ex: the floor will hold me up. Ex: even though bob is making me furious, i should resist the urge to hit him. Ex: the earth revolves around the sun. Ex: i don"t care what anybody says . Ex: i"m not arguing, i"m just explaining why i"m right .
