CPS 118 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Interpreted Language, Decimal Mark, Matlab
Document Summary
Matlab is a powerful computational environment and a programming language that easily handles matrix and complex arithmetic. It is a large software package with many advanced features built in. Allows for easy plotting in both 2d and 3d. Matlab has 2 different methods for executing commands : interactive mode and batch mode. In interactive mode, commands are types into the command window. In batch mode, a series of commands are saved in the text with a . m extension and then executed by running that file in the matlab command prompt. Matlab is an interpreted language this means it needs to go through a compiler and lines are executed line by line. Most of the time matlab works with arrays or matrices of real numbers or characters. To start a command make sure the cursor is next to the prompt (>>). Matlab won(cid:495)t respond until you press enter.
