Foucault said state is not the only source of power, they might be dominating but they are not the only source of power. Domination is produced and atchieved and this reproduction of domination operates through multiple forms of power. He says power runs through all of us but focuses on. Goal was to show the public what was not accepted. Deterence (showing people what would happen if they do the same thing. He said if you use force to get power and hurt people, revolution and rebellion will happen and there will be a shift of power. Ex: french evolution in 1789. it took a long time to set up a modern libereal state 1830- Foucault said soverign power never ever completely disappears and in a way it operates together with disciplinary power. Comes from the idea of the panopticon. Panopticon 1 or 2 guys watch prisoners at all times where prisoners can not verify .
