CYC 101 Lecture 11: Lesson/ Chapter 11

66 views3 pages

Document Summary

Children and youth live in complex, open systems such as families, schools and communities. In cyc, relationships are the vehicle by which practitioners humanize the often frustrating and impersonal systems context in which they work. Working relationally brings the systems context together with an understanding of human development to more comprehensively access the resources and strengths that children, youth and families bring to their lives and identify where to intervene and create change. The sum of the whole is greater than its parts. When there is a relationship between 2 or more things and when those things work together, they will have a different effect than applying or analyzing the effect of each thing separately. Together, you and i can change the world, but individually even if we add together what we are doing, we don"t have the same effect. Systems can be as small as a single person or as large as a culture.
