FSN 101 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Goose Bumps, Silverfish, Combustibility And Flammability
Document Summary
Durability properties: abrasion resistance, pilling, strength, flexibility, cohesiveness, elongation. Have 2 flat elements rubbing together: edge abrasion: heem of the pants rubbing on the floor. The edge of a textile product rubs against another force: flex abrasion: shoe bends at corners, wears out. Can also cause pilling- fibres coming out of the fabric. Flexibility: the ability to bend rapeditatly without breaking. Cohesiveness: ability of the fibres to cling together, resist, kapok- natural celluloses fibre, harvested from the kapok plant, hallow body and seal tail, doesn"t stick together like cotton, cotton- highly cohesive, What is comfort: how a textile product effects heat, air and moisture transfer, and the way the body interacts with the textile product, know their comfortable when don"t think about it. Care labels: a lot of people find them scratchy, almost all textile products have labels, ability to choose what kind of labels, printed vs sewn in, have to know in advance.
