Apparel engineering (chapter 11: apparel production systems. The term apparel production systems refers to the integration of: materials, production processes, people and equipment. Apparel production system direct workflow and generate finished goods. There are 3 types of systems commonly used today: Named after the bundles of move from one station to another in a progressive manner. Bundle consists of garment parts for either one operation or one garment, or multiple garments. Bundles are assembled in the cutting room with corresponding bundle tickets (style #, shade, list of ops, piece rates for each operation, etc) Operators keep corresponding tickets and turn them in at the end of the day for their compensation. Electronic bundle tickets and smart cards at each workstation reduce paper work and eliminate lost tickets. Bundles are given to operators, when work is finished bundle is moved to the next workstation, compensated by piecework. Results in high volume of work in progress.
