Madame paqane: first woman to become a high-standing fashion designer, oriental themes, wonderful hats. History: dancing was very popular, tango was very dramatic and sinful, music halls were popular, 1910 cinema is developing, film stars are becoming well known, orientalism. Men"s fashion: became more sensible, arrow shirt man. 2017-11-10: came in both double (1905) and single (1910) breasted versions, closely placed buttons, wide lapels, waist is cut slightly high and flared a little over the hips. End of the war 1918: silhouette becomes more simple and straight moving towards flapper styles, 1919, tubular silhouette, less decoration, less flowing lines. 2017-11-10: men"s fashions, jacket became exaggerated higher waist, two-buttoned. End of 1920"s: silhouettes become softer, skirts become longer, waists resume natural position, clothes become quieter, more somber period of fashion beginning. Prof: susan barnwell: popular elements, sailor-collars, floppy bows, stripes, cumberbund sashes and wide belts, t-strap shoes, ankle-length skirts, wider shoulders, slender hips, evening wear became varied and glamourous.
