Rta101 - intro to media theory: week 2. Enable the spread and reiteration of culture. Propagate the values and schemas of a culture through the repeated interaction and exchange enabled by the communications process. The beliefs, customs, arts, of a particular society, group, place, or time. A particular society that has its own beliefs, ways of life, art. A way of thinking, behaving, or working that exists in a place or organization (such as a business) (for pierre bourdieu that is called habitus ). The process of integration people into a set of values and ideas of a given culture. Most of the ways we acculturate people are invisible. Clothing, affect, language, use of space (hidden dimension - hall). In mediated society - added hidden dimension - the virtual space. Representation - identity - production - consumption - regulation. Some exist in physical,, virtual, and/or hybrid spaces. This alters how we negotiate and rejuvenate cultures.
