Improves: quality of reception/viewing experience, cost for audience or distributors, convenience of viewing. Technology can often affect the process of media, but rarely the content of said media. Every country thinks they were the first. Plenty of incremental improvements on existing tech. Many ideas floating about in the air. May need better tech to bring the ideas to life. Often the result of a deficit of electricity. Samuel morse invents the telegraph with wires. Caselli moves this tech to make images. These technologies became important to fax and tv. Put in for a patent that would allow her to sign books remotely. In 1880 maurice leblanc describes a workable system to transmit images over wire. Synced revolved discs with holes on either end. Nipkow can"t build it because of a lack of electricity.
