Spatial (mapping, gis, rs, modeling, quantitative techniques) Area studies (regional geography at all scales) Man-land (human geography in all its forms, perception, hazards) As scientist, the nature of studying our earth must be accomplished in an organization and logical fashion. A haphazard estimated guess method will not suffice in the scientific community. Thus all scientist utilizes the scientific method, which is summarized in 6 very general steps, specific to the earth sciences: 1. Formulation of a question: 3, 4, 5, 6. The natural systems in physical geography operate within the four great realms of earths.
