A shadow organization made up of the unofficial, but often critical working relationships between organizational members. Social network analysis: identifies the informal structures and their embedded social relationships that are active in an organization. Members of functional departments share technical expertise, interests and responsibilities. Members of each function work within their respective areas of expertise. When each function does its jobs properly. Departmentalization: is the process of grouping people and jobs into work units. Groups together people with similar skills who perform similar tasks.
