Hawthorne resear(cid:272)hers hypothesized that (cid:272)losing one"s (cid:272)o own (cid:272)o workers, working as a group, (cid:271)eing treated as special ( as evidenced by working in a separate room), and having a sympathetic supervisor were reasons for increases in worker productivity.
