Document Summary

Planning is the process of seing objecives and determining how to accomplish them. It sets the stage for the other by providing a sense of direcion. Objecives are speciic results that one wishes to achieve. A plan is a statement of intended means for accomplishing objecives. One thing to avoid is the complacency trap which is simply being carried long by the low of events. One type of plan used is the long-range plan that looks three or more years into the future: intermediate-range plans cover one to two years, short range plans cover one year or less. A study has found that most people work comfortably with only 3-month ime spans. A strategic plan ideniies the long-term direcions for the organizaion: it starts with a vision that clariies the purpose of the organizaion and expresses what it hopes to be in the future.
