Rgb & cmyk are proven methods of producing colour it is true: proven methods in a relatively controlled way. But remember rgb and cmyk are device coutns not colour: they do not define colour, they are not producing the same colour in every instance. Rgb and cmyk device counts: rgb are computer numbers that correspond with how much of an electrical charge will be sent to a specific pixel of a monitor. Device dependent: rgb and cmyk valyes are individual to a specific device under a specific set of conditions, will allow it to determine what the colour will be. Colour management is linking the oclour you want to produce with the method of producing it in a controllable and predictable way: could test every single combination and measure the result. Rgb 256 x 256 = 16. 8 million combinations. Measurement is only useful if you can replicate the same condition that has made those dots.
