Business processes and information systems: businesses must deal with many different pieces of information about suppliers, customers, employees, invoices, payments and products and services. They must to organize work activities that use this info. to operate efficiently and enhance overall performance: business processes: collection of activities required to produce a product or service. They are supported by flows of material, information and knowledge among the participants in business processes: performance of frims depends on how well business processes are deisgned and coordinated. Information must flow rapidly within the firm from one decisions maker to another; to and from business partners, such as delivery firms; and to and from customers. Types of information systems: transactions processing system (tps)s: computerized system that performs and records daily routine transactions necessary to conduct business, such as sales, payroll, employee record keeping and shipping. Operational level: task, resources and goals are predefined and highly structure.
