Within days he sets up the cpi - committee on public information: propaganda outfit - best graphic artist, pr people and communicators to sell the war to the american people. 1: realized that you can"t sell a war on the basis of facts had to appeal to their hearts through images and symbols and dehumanize the enemy so it doesn"t seem like you"re killing a person. Bernays was part of the cpi: slogan make the world safe for democracy , have to have a higher purpose that would allow people to dehumanize the enemy. Bernays was the opposite of ivy lee and he influenced many others after him.
