Crtc (canadian radio television and telecommunications commission) regulates telemarketing. Canadian competition act also contains provisions pertaining telemarketing. Telemarketers must identify themselves and the business/organization for which they work. They must display the phone number from which they are calling or a number that a consumer can call to reach the telemarketer. They may only call between 9am - 9:30pm on weekdays and between 10am - Once an individual has placed their name on the national do not call list, telemarketers are not permitted to contact the individual anymore. Afforded a 14 day grace period within a consumer registering for list. There are some organizations that are exempt from this list: Companies who are contacting consumers with an existing business relationship. All organizations are required to make an internal do not call list. The type of product/service they are promoting. The price of any product being sold. Any restrictions or conditions that must be met before the product will be delivered.
