Much of modern western politics, artistic thought (architecture, sculpture), thought, theatre, literature, and philosophy derives from this period of gree. In the context of the art, architecture, and culture of ancient greece, the cla sometimes called the hellenic period, corresponds (resembles) to most of th centuries bc (the most common dates being the fall of the last athenian tyra the death of alexander the great in 323 bc). Renaissance: the cultural rebirth that occurred in europe from roughly the fo through the middle of the seventeenth centuries, based on the rediscovery of the literature of greece and rome. During the renaissance, america was discovered, and the reformation began; modern times are often considered to have begun with the renaissance.
