Reception: stimulus of a nerve cell called the receptor designed for one type of stimulus ie light, sounds touch. Perception: awareness and receiving of the stimuli depends on the area of the cerebral cortex where specialized brain cells interpret, when the pt becomes conscious of the sensation perception takes place.
