Septum -kiesselbach"s plexus: where nosebleeds can originate from - very vascualr place. Ethmoid and sphenoid found deeper in the cranial cavity. Mouth and pharynx self review: lips are they cracked?- sign of dehydration they should be smooth, pink and shiny. Gums, buccal mucosa and 32 teeth: baby teeth -- 20 teeth, 6 yrs: teeth start leaving -- generally front incisors start coming out inspection - are there braces, dental caries? are there teeth ( edentulism?) Hard and soft palates: hard= anterior ( whiter in appearance) soft= posterior ( pinker and soft) cleft palate or lip- congenital abnormality that can be surgically resolved. Tongue (papillae: mediated by cn12 - hypoglossal- motor fxn. Tonsils should be +1 grade size , stippled. Discharge clear: rhinorrhea - not abnormal: purulent- yellow, green, pus - abnormal.
