Enacted stigma: overt discrimination against marginalized individuals or groups and experienced as shame. Felt stigma: stigma is internalized by the oppressed individuals and groups. Discrimination: treating people differently, negatively or adversely without good reason (canadian human rights commission, 2004). Systemic discrimination: embedded in policies and practices. Stigmatization & discrimination fear of being discriminated. Fear of discrimination & rejection: experienced by persons, their families & friends, suffer in isolation. Leads to delay in seeking support or services.
