Document Summary

Socrates, famous philosopher, did not write down his work, his student was plato. Plato was the first philosopher to write bodies of work. Plato opened plato"s academy", and aristotle enrolled. Aristotle became a teacher, much of what he wrote is what he would"ve taught his students. We"re focusing on what this book says about human nature. Ethics= how to live? , what is the most choice worthy life? . Modern thinking: the idea of the good life is individualistic. Aristotle argues there is a general (not individual) human nature, and how can we fulfill those potentials. Teleological- comes from the greek words [telos] and [logos], which means the logical of the end. Our road to get to our natural/full potential actually takes a lot of work and is difficult. Humans have a natural end, but due to conditions, some people have not met with the conditions to be able to actualize and achieve that full potential.
